My new Job!

It is so funny how God is with us at all times. He's in control of everything you know!!! :-)
I just read one of my daily devotions and it was talking about patience. It said something about farmers and how patient they are, because a farmer's crop only comes up after he waits patiently for autumn rains, winter snows, and spring sunshine. I never thought about a farmer being patient!
Anything worth having is worth waiting for!
I was also reminded of Galatians 5 and the other day John Q. was telling me that he loved how I had all the fruits of the spirit! Yes, he was talking to me! He was just trying to be sweet! I secretly thought that I needed to work on some of those fruits and have been praying about it, and look how God answers prayers and guides us through even the smallest of details.
Speaking of patience...I saw a friend yesterday that is trying to adopt a baby from China and I asked how should I pray for them??? He said pray for a baby soon, but don't pray for us to have patience. He knows that if you pray for patience God really listens!HE!HE!
God is so good! I love that He is the creator and master of this universe! WOW! It's so incredible.(Sorry I got off on a tangent.)
Anyway...I was supposed to be writing about my new job! I finally got the position at church as the Assistant Nursery Coordinator!(It was official on Monday and Michelle has already put me to work!) After many prayers and interviews I can truly say that I am excited to serve God in this capacity. I was really worried and anxious about accepting the position and God just finally gave me a peace about it. I am eager to see what challenges He will bring to me through serving the parents and children of the church. I pray that I will do a fabulous job and touch the lives of at least one child or parent in a way that is life altering. Yikes, I have so much to learn. But, I know that as each day passes I will continue to grow in the grace of the Lord and that He has special plans for me!

Friday Nights at the Pool

Tonight was another Friday night at the pool! For the past several weeks we having been spending our Friday nights at the pool with friends. Each week we have been preparing a nice picnic. We usually get someone to bring the meat and Penn, Brooke, and I bring the goodies to go along with it. We usually bring stuff like chips, dips, fruit, salad, and buns, etc. We swim a while, then grill the meat, have a nice big supper, and stay at the pool until 9:00PM when it closes. We usually bring shampoo and soap, so that we can bathe Cookie before we go home. She usually falls asleep on the ride home and we can just throw her in the bed upon arrival.
Tonight we met several families there from our church. I guess you could say it was a mini Evangel get-together. The pool was extra crowded for a Friday night. There was also an "incident" if you will! Some of the older kids we know found some "throw up" in the pool! The lifeguards immediately cleared everyone out and cleaned up the mess. It was totally disgusting and we moved over to the baby pool where it was warmer and free of any floating debris! The mommies didn't want the little ones to get back into the big pool, but the daddies went back in for a game of catch. We are all praying they do not get sick from the throw up germs! We look forward to at least one more Friday night at the pool before it closes.

Mimi's Visit

Well Mimi left today and Brooke Anne was sooo sad ;-( She kept walking around the house yelling Mimi, Mimi, and looking for her! I would say,"Mimi had to go home to Louisiana." She would say, "Mimi, Bye-Bye, caaar" and then point out the window. She has just recently learned to say car and she pronounces it like a chick from Boston. It is so cute. Brooke, Mimi(my mom), and I all had a great visit. Penn too and Teddy also! He loves his Mimi! That was her 1st Grandson you know! Mimi decided to come for a visit because we were all going to Gulf Shores and it got cancelled. Penn found out he would have to go out of town in the middle of our trip, so we rescheduled for Labor Day Weekend! Mom had already arranged the time off, so she just headed up here to Birmingham. On Friday night Penn, Brooke and I met Mimi at O'Charley's. We had a nice time and Brooke was soo well behaved! On Saturday, we went shopping and them Mimi and Brooke had fun together at home while Penn and I went to the Refuge group that night. On Sunday, we went to church and then to a covered dish afterwards. It wasn't really our shepherding group's luncheon, but Mike, Jeanie, and some others really wanted us to go. It was a good opportunity for Mom to visit with some friends from church. After lunch, Kim and Kirby came to visit from Montgomery and we all went shopping and out to Habanero's for dinner. Penn didn't join us because he had to work! On Monday, Penn went to Huntsville for the week and Brooke, Mom and I went shopping again! (Do you think we have a shopping problem? Nah!) We spent most of the day at the Galleria and Brooke got to ride the carousel! She wanted to ride the frog! She LOVES frogs! As she was riding, she would kind of lift up her bottom and say RIBBBBITTT and then giggle like crazy. When the carousel stopped she didn't want to get off. She held on tight to the frog and said, "MORE, MORE!" But you know we weren't gonna pay another $2! Well...as the weekend progressed Little Miss Brooke's behavior changed and she got pretty sassy and a little difficult. She was quite disobedient! I even had to put her in time out several times while shopping! I think she just knows that she can get away with being like that when her Mimi is around. I thought that the behavior might continue after Mimi left, but this afternoon she was back to her old sweet self. Yeah! It is sad that Mimi lives six hours away :-(, but for disciplining sake it sure is a blessing! We miss you Mimi, but don't worry we will see you in another 15 days at the beach! Hooray!

Alabama Adventure

Well a couple of weeks have past since my last post. I was planning to post daily, but I guess life just gets busy and time slides by! Speaking of slides...Penn, Brooke, and I went to Splash Beach at Alabama Adventure today! We went last Thursday with playgroup and we had so much fun that we made Daddy take off of work and go back with us. Brooke Anne is 19 months old and just a little bitty ole thing, but she is sooo adventurous! She said POOL when we got there and then as soon as she saw the slide she kept pointing and saying SLIDE SLIDE! We went down the baby slide first and then she said MORE MORE! We explored the entire park and Penn and I took turns playing with Brooke, so we could also go on the adult slides. I think Brooke would go down the slides a million times if we let her. She could even walk up to the top all by herself. She also loved the wave pool. She would say WHEE WHEE as the waves moved her up and down. We stayed from 11:00 to 3:45. My little angel is such a trooper and never fusses. She is always ready to GO have FUN! She did start to get sleepy in the Lazy River and almost fell asleep. We decided to get some dippin'dots ice cream before we left. Penn didn't want any, but of course after he tried ours he loved it. Sometimes he just needs a little coaxing and then he has a great time. We will definitely get season passes for next year!
