Dr.s Appointment

Today I went on my check up for the baby! I only gained 1 pound since last month. What? What a miracle~cause by lookin' at me you'd guess that I have gained about 20! I am still feeling pretty barfarific these days, but at least I know it is just because of all of those lovely pregnancy hormones stirring around in there. I can't remember what it feels like to NOT be nauseous! I definitely did not have this problem with the cookster when she was in my belly. Oh the joys of being prego! ;-)
At 10.5 weeks, there is only a 50/50 chance of hearing the heartbeat with a Doppler, but the doctor listened for it and we heard the tiny little heart beating. Yay! It was at 168. Any guesses on the sex?
Anyway, it was just so reassuring to find out that all is well so far and that the baby inside of me is continuing to grow bigger and stronger each day.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you..
Jeremiah 1:5

God's creations are just so amazing!

My Little Monster

My little monster is Brooke and I mean that in a very affectionate way. One of her nickname's is Cookie Monster and I have shortened it to just plain ole monster. She is lying in bed as I type, singing "Happy Birthday to Daddy." It is not her daddy's b-day, but she enjoys singing that song substituting with everybody and any body's name until she drifts off into dreamland.
She is such a little motor mouth ham that I feel like I need to write down some of the silly stuff she says and does before I forget.
Actually, now that I am here I can't really remember the cute stuff she says and does all the time, but I guess I could brag on her a bit!!!
She is so smart. She knows her ABC's, can count to 20, knows all of her colors and recognizes most of her shapes. Did I mention that she's a great singer too? She can sing just about any nursery rhyme, children's bible song, or kid's song from memory and to the correct tune. She is very affectionate and has a kind and gentle spirit. Her tender heart can tell if someone is sad or hurting and she will run to aid and comfort anyone in need. She is VERY outgoing. She doesn't forget a face and can usually put a name with it. She gives out her hugs and kisses freely, which people always seem to like. Did I mention she is so stinkin' cute that you just want to eat her up?
OK, OK, I'll stop bragging now! Oh wait, I did just think of a flaw of hers! So I guess it is only fair if I share. She has a bit of a speech impediment. (She gets it from her daddy. He had to go to speech therapy when he was little. Shhh, don't tell him I said so. She might too, but maybe she will grow out of it before school!) She totally mispronounce her F's and L's. So when listening to her you have to decode a bit. For instance, she says "I wuv my wamb willi wu wu. Do you wike her too?" Translation: I love my lamb Lilly Lulu.(from build a bear) Do you like her too? For F's she says SW, so today when we were at the park, Brooke said, "I need to take off my swip swops so I can get dirt off my swoot!" Translation: I need to take of my flip flop, so I can get the dirt off of my foot!
So there, she's not perfect, but pretty darn close.
Anyway, I'll stop boring you. I better go snap her out of the American Idol auditions she has going on in her room cause it is way past her bed time. This time change has us really confused!

Limerick Monday

Today we saw the baby's heartbeat~
and let me just say it's totally neat.
Our pumpkin's no bigger than a bean!
Aren't God's miracles amazing and keen?
This fall an infant we'll meet :-)

Psalm 139:13
For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother's womb.

Last Wed. I went to see the doctor for my initial pregnancy check up. While there he said everything seemed on track, but I insisted on getting an ultrasound. I have always wanted a little "bean" picture of my baby as it seems that other mommies from different doctors usually get an ultrasound early on. So, I got kind of teary eyed and of course Dr. Hudson agreed to order me one. He told me to make the appointment for the next day. I went downtown on Thurs. at 8:45AM and waited for hours. Finally it was my turn for the ultrasound and they couldn't find the baby!!! The doctor thought for sure that something was wrong because my hormones levels were high enough to be able to see something. He took more blood work and rescheduled the u/s for today. He did say that he was concerned and I should be too!
I worried, prayed and tried to figure out how to say good-bye to my baby all weekend long. I was nauseous and depressed for days!
And then today~I was driving to my appt. and all of a sudden a dove flew up to my window on the interstate. It just flapped its wings alongside my car for several minutes. It was so beautiful. At that time, I knew everything was going to be OK. I knew God had sent me that dove to give me peace.
Our God is so amazing and is control. I have learned that I need to trust God in everything. I need to trust that he is in control without wanting to see everything is OK with my own eyes! And you know I will NOT be asking for anymore unnecessary ultrasounds in the future!
Thank you God for the gift of this pregnancy and the teeny tiny beating heart inside of my womb!
