Busy Baby Business

It has been a busy week for baby girl Bailey. On Wed. the 12th we went for the 1st of our weekly ultrasounds and NST. The appt was at 2:00PM and we didn't get out of there until after 5:00PM. So you can imagine the traffic on the way home was horrible. At least they said all looked good! Miss Brooke behaved herself through the entire ordeal. Doing this every week may get tiresome though!
On Thursday, I finished up the baby's room for the most part, so now I feel somewhat ready for her arrival. My mom drove in on Friday from Baton Rouge to spend a couple of days here in Birmingham.
On Saturday morning, Mrs. Beck and some other SWEET friends threw Bailey and me a lovely baby shower brunch.
It was such a beautiful day outside. Just perfect for celebrating Bailey's upcoming arrival. The party planners made sure the party was complete with all the brunch type fixin's and really cute decorations too.
One of the cutest things were the little edible pacifier favors that Mrs. Beck made from a Paula Dean cookbook. Bailey's racked up and all kinds of cute outfits, blankets, bibs, burp cloths, diapers, wipes, and much, much, more!
It is so nice for her to get some of her own things that are not "hand me downs." Brooke even received some precious gifts of her own. Her "favorite" being the American Girl Bitty Baby and matching diaper bag from Meme B (Mrs. Beck). She has toted that doll around everywhere, changing her "pretend poop" diapers about a thousand times, and just about loving it to death.
She even sleeps with it!
Thank you to all who participated in the shower. You are all so sweet and precious to me. You went above and beyond! :-)
Kim and Kirby drove in from Montgomery for the shower and stayed in town afterward to hang around. My Mom, Brooke, Kim, Kirby, and I all went shopping and out to eat. Brooke loves Kirby. Kirby is seven and teaches Brooke all kinds of big girl stuff. We always have so much fun together!
At the end of the day, they headed back to Montgomery.
On Sunday, the Bullocks plus Mimi all went to church and then out to lunch with the Becks. Afterward, Mom, Brooke, and I did more shopping. We needed to get a TV and a few other odds and ends for the baby's room. We asked Brooke if Bailey could have the big rocking chair out of her room.
She agreed as long as it would be replaced with a table and chairs to go with her kitchen. She said she needed a place to have "tea suppers" (that is what she calls tea parties. Don't know where she got that from?) So...Mimi thought she better get a new table and chairs for her sweet Brooke.
On Monday, more shopping and eating. And of course Mimi had to go to dance with Brooke. Another good day!
Today, Mimi had to head back to B.R. We are always sad when she leaves, but she will be back VERY soon for the arrival of Miss Bailey! I think we are prepared for this busy baby business to continue we will just have to wait for Bailey's grand entrance!

Week 33 1/2 The countdown in ON!

Look at the lips on that baby...She/He is saying only about six weeks until your Momma can kiss her life as she knows it goodbye! I'm scared of the change, but excited too!
Another appointment today...I am growing a little weary of driving downtown so often! I know it will pay off in the long run when I finally get my precious girl!
I did get to see Dr. Dan Hudson today. He will be doing the c-section on Monday the 15th at 7:15 AM. I kinda hope Bailey comes on another day just because I don't like having her birth scheduled...I would rather that she pick her own birthday!
Anyway...the appointment proved to be uneventful and they said all seemed well. Bailey is supposedly head down and in position for birth, although it doesn't really matter when you have a section. My sugar seems stable~still eatin' salad~and no one in the office commented on the two pounds I had gained! Which puts me at over 30~YIKES! I can't wait to eat sweets again, but it won't be very long lived cause I'll have to get back on a diet to lose all this baby weight!

***Please note that ALL of the Ultrasound pics that I have posted on my blog are NOT of Bailey. They are just random pics that I have borrowed off the web.

Labor Day Weekend in Baton Rouge

One last road trip to Mimi's in Baton Rouge before the baby comes! Penn decided he better go with us just in case I went into labor on the way. ;-) We arrived on Wednesday and stayed through Sunday. Penn had to come back, so that he could go out to North Alabama for the entire week, so we changed our plans around a little bit. We had our traditional Labor Day cookout on Saturday.

Brooke had fun playing with her baby cousin Peyton and sliding down the big slide into the pool with daddy.
We also had lots of fun visiting with old friends. Brooke was able to play with Dylan one of her Baton Rouge boyfriends.
His mother, Dana and I have been friends for a long time. We were pregnant together with our first and now with our second babies~although in this picture her stomach is not protruding even half as much as mine!

While in Louisiana, we all piled in the mini van to take a little road trip (about 60 miles round trip) to where I attended college. (Hammond, Louisiana) I insisted we visit there to eat at an ole' favorite of ours, Catfish Charlie's. It is a really fun~all you can eat~catfish and biscuits camp-type restaurant. I barely ate anything and of course my blood sugar shot up through the roof~so not worth it!
But I think the little monster had fun feeding leftover biscuits to the ducks and turtles in the pond out back!
Most of the other time in Baton Rouge was spent shopping and eating out with Mimi. What can we say we are shopaholics!
But the highlight of the trip was watching the LSU game and seeing Penn and my brother do the victory dance with the kids!!!
